Wye Valley

Hi, I'm Sue, the owner of Stoulgrove Country House B&B which is situated in Woodcroft, a village just outside the Wales/England border town of Chepstow.

Stoulgrove was built in 1792 and after purchasing the house, a major re-development of both house and gardens took place in 2010. The aim was to retain the Georgian essence of Stoulgrove and build upon it to create a family home where classic meets contemporary. The majority of the new bespoke features were handmade by local Forest of Dean craftsmen, the house has impressive eco credentials and use of natural resources where, for instance, the stone walls around the gardens and lane were sourced from Stoulgrove’s fields.

Opened in late 2017, Stoulgrove Country House B&B has been privileged to welcome many guests, who I am happy to say, have enjoyed their stay at Stoulgrove.

I have been delighted to receive a series of awards including Visit Wales 5* and Gold awards for 2018 and 2019, tripadvisor’s’ 2019 5* Certificate of Excellence and the prestigious Welsh Enterprise Awards ‘Best Luxury B&B 2019’ in South Wales.

Adjacent to the Offa’s Dyke Path and the beautiful surrounding countryside of the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean. Stoulgrove Country House B&B is just five minutes’ drive from the historic town of Chepstow, with its eleventh century castle, racecourse, Tintern Abbey and offers easy access to nearby Bristol, Cardiff, Bath, Cheltenham and the motorway M4 & M5 network.

After a day enjoying the area or after a long drive, Stoulgrove is the place to relax. All bedrooms are light & airy and have been designed with your comfort in mind. Featuring double aspect windows, deep comfortable beds, luxurious bathrooms, tea, coffee and bottled water, with smart tv, Sky, Freeview, DVD, wifi, bathrobes, hairdryer, ironing facilities, complimentary toiletries and ample wardrobe space. There is a small selection of snacks and soft drinks available to purchase from the ‘honesty’ basket.

In the morning, come down to a hearty, leisurely Stoulgrove breakfast in the dining room or, if weather permitting, on the patio listening to the birds and enjoying the view.

Should you decide to stay at Stoulgrove, a warm welcome awaits you along with a cup of tea, home-made cake and an invitation to rest and relax in an extremely comfortable, quiet and friendly home.

I look forward to welcoming you to Stoulgrove.

Sue
